    "Concussion" movie

My wife and I saw "Concussion" starring Will Smith saturday. I don't know enough to judge its accuracy, but it pulled no punches in criticizing different NFL officials. Nor did it minimize the harrassment the researcher received.

The movie made the point that the human brain lacks the natural protection found in some animal species, so a large number of hits over years can hardly fail to affect it.

In spite of these ideas, players these days seem more intent than ever, in my 67-year-old memory, on intimidating opponents with targeting, etc. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties seem to be proliferating more than I can recall. I suspect football will face some major problems over the next 15-20 years.

Yeah, I'm surprised The Shield didn't somehow block this movie, as the timing is definitely not good for the league. I heard one time that Goodell's fear was someday having someone die on the field.

I live in Iowa, lots of talk about Sash. Just goes to show you don't need to have a 10 year career at the pro level to be gravely impacted. Very sad story.

Add Ken Stabler to the CTE list. Very sad.
