Hi all,
I have a pair of Michael Jordan 1990-91 game worn Air Jordan 5's signed with a nice vintage auto on both shoes. They are currently available for sale.
The shoes have fantastic provenance. They were obtained in 1990 by retired LA Kings equipment manager Peter Demers. Peter sold the shoes to well known hockey dealer Milton Byron in 1998. I have confirmed this information with Milt, who remembered picking up the shoes from Peter.
The Kings equipment manger traded a game used Wayne Gretzky Easton stick for the shoes, from the Bulls equipment manager.
The shoes were later sold by Milt and auctioned by Air23.com
The coding inside the shoes reads: 900428FT
After doing a lot of research on the codes (with thanks to BTPH for leading me in the right direction) I found that the coding for player sample shoes was different than retail versions. The retail version code was done in a year/month/month format. Whereas the player sample shoes were done in a year/month/day format.
Also, the retail versions were done in a production run over a few months. So, the coding for those would always read something like this: 900709FT1. Meaning the shoes were produced sometime between July and September. FT is the Taiwan plant code.
The player sample shoes had an exact date of production. These particular shoes have that proper code and were manufactured on April 28th 1990 and were used in the first half of the 1990 season. What I really like about these shoes is, not only is the date coding correct, but the tagging is NOT sewn into the tongue as was done with retail versions. The date code is sewn inside both shoes on the instep. The shoes are size 13 as indicated on both tags.
They come with a letter from Milton Byron. I also have the original auction listing and photo from Air23.com

Thanks.
Take care.
