This is a 1983 All-Star Game batting practice jersey for an unknown National League player. It was made by Sand-Knit, is a size large, and has the National League logo screened on the left breast. The original 50th Anniversary All-Star Game patch is on the left sleeve. Inside the back tail of the jersey are two sewn tags... One says "1983 All-Star" and the other strip tag is blank.
I have only seen one of these before. In 2004, the Bill Madlock example of this jersey sold for just under $400. It appears the name "MADLOCK" was either stamped or neatly written on the tag that of that jersey, whereas my tag is blank. Otherwise, everything is exactly the same! The BP jerseys did not have numbers. (The last photo shows the Madlock jersey I'm referring to...)
Many stars and Hall of Fame players wore this NL jersey before the '83 game, including Johnny Bench, Gary Carter, Ozzie Smith, Andre Dawson, Dale Murphy and Lee Smith. I'm not trying to guess anything about this particular jersey, and if anyone has any additional info please let me know.
I'm asking $250 delivered for the jersey.
