Louisville Slugger Bat Signature Dies: Berrra, Colavito, Rice, Boyer, Lombardi

I recently won a lot of Louisville Slugger bat signature dies in the Hunt Auction. These are the old signature dies that Louisville used to label the players' bats. They are 1 of a kind, and you will never see them again. This was the first time that Louisville ever made any of their bat dies available for purchase.

Currently the following dies are available for sale, at $125 each:

Yogi Berra, Rocky Colavito, Jim Rice, Ken Boyer and Ernie Lombardi

They all are the actual dies which were used to brand the player's professional model bats except for the Berra, which is a cursive signature (not his actual one) probably used on store model or little league bats.

I also have 3 dies of non-players that I have no idea why Louisville was using to label bats:

Ed Crosley, Terry Alison and Stanley Mouse.

They are $50 each in case anyone is interested.

Please contact me at goldstein@goldlaw.com if you want any of the dies. It is hard for me to get pictures to you but I will be happy to describe them further if needed.

To update this thread, the Lombardi die has sold.

The Berra, Colavito, Rice and Boyer are still available, along with the 3 dies of non-major leaguers.

      Howard,

Your Boyer die also is a generic font, like the Berra. I saw that lot in the Hunt auction and was interested because of the Boyer... but when I saw the die, I realized it wasn't the actual one used on his pro bats.

      Compare the die: http://www.huntauctions.com/liveimg32/266f.jpg

      To Boyer's bat: http://www.mearsonline.com/images/fo...20apr%2017.jpg

      Thought you'd want to know.

Jeff: Thanks very much for that additional info. I would never have known it.

I might add, however, that anyone collecting Berra or Boyer items still should be very interested in these bat dies as it is unlikely that any other bat dies from these significant ballplayers will ever again be made available to the public. I would think that Yankees or Cardinals collectors in particular would love to add such items to their collections, as their fellow collectors will not have any!
