I have recently suffered some health issues. Likewise, a small tornado hit the my house (on Labor Day) causing some serious damage. Both situations have led me to do something I promised myself I wouldn't do, sell my Pujols Inventory.
Over the past 6 years, I have researched, sought down leads, etc., to create the collection I now have....
14 Albert Pujols 2001 Rookie Jerseys (game worn). 9 home, 5 road. Most are set 1, some are set 2. Three have the flag tag on rear neck. The best part, I also have the first #5 jersey Pujols ever wore as a Cardinal (Albert wore all size 46 in spring training of 2001 with another number, this is the first jersey home #5, it is a set 1, size 46. Albert wore it for 2 weeks until more 48's came in. It was shelved by the clubhouse manager and later pulled out after 9/11 to have a flag installed). Nine of the 14 jerseys have Mears letters. The other 5 jerseys came from respectable collectors like Jeff Sullivan, Brad Horne, and Rob Steinmetz (prior to 2003) and thus I felt no need to get letters.
I am looking for an outright sell. I am asking 72,800. It may seem a little high, but having almost every Pujols rookie jersey that is still available and the time to collect all of these has it costs. This adjusted price reflects the current market value of a Pujols game worn rookie ($5200 x 14). The BP jersey is obviously not worth 5200, but the first jersey Albert wore on the field at home is worth substantially more than that.
My family business is a Corporate Sponsor of the St. Louis Cardinals and I have on-field privileges, dug-out visits, club booth next to General Manager, and ceremonial first-pitch opportunities. I am honest and fair. My late grandfather first started collecting in the late 50's and into the 60's. Our family's jerseys have been requested to be exhibited at both HOF in Cooperstown and the Cardinals HOF in St. Louis. Albert Pujols is the greatest player I have ever seen (in the modern era). . .plus he is not linked to any steroid scandals and is a great ambassador and Christian off the field. He is currently in the Dominican Republic helping supply one of his orphanages.
If you are interested, you can email me, fax me, or call me back. If not, I can look elsewhere in the hobby such as an auction house. I have been offered some significant offers from such companies as Grey Flannel etc, but I am hoping that a true collector would be interested. I am hoping someone will keep this collection together. Thus, at this time, I am not going to split the jerseys up, all 14 stay together. The new owner can determine which course of action they take. I will only provide pictures to interested serious buyers. This is an impressive collection.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Merry Christmas and God bless you.
