    Bert Bell "THE DUKE" NFL Game Ball Football

    Offered is a superb NFL “THE DUKE” game ball football from when Bert Bell was the league commissioner. This football is in awesome condition – the laces are unbroken and it still holds air. There are signatures on the football but they are way too faded to make out just who signed the football.

    At one time there was a piece of athletic tape on “THE DUKE” panel telling me that at some time, this football was a “presentation” football. Still, it is a very nice piece of NFL history.

      Hi guys, I sent the Duke out to Steve Hill who cleaned the football up quite nicely. He DID NOT dye the pigskin or alter the football in anyway.
      This classic Duke WILL NOT disappoint.

      I am always looking for vintage Eagles game worn items as well as vintage durene NFL jerseys.

              Thanx for the kudos. I was going to put it on eBay until I read about the boycott so just wait a week or so until the boycott is over. The photos really don't do the football any justice at all.

                  Cohiba correct me if I am wrong but it looks like all he did was oil the football.

                      When I got the football, someone had already removed a piece of athletic tape leaving a large portion of tape glue residue and minor damage to the patina.

                      Prior to sending the football to Steve, I sent him scans of the area of concern and we both agreed that dying that area would be our last option because quite frankly, if the leather was dyed, we both felt it would alter the football.

                      In closing, I am not sure what he did but he did clean it up a bit. Best of all, no dyes were used. There are not a whole lot of Bert Bell footballs in the hobby so the money I spent to clean it up was well worth it.
