Re: McGwire 88 World Series Bat

Some times when things are for sale we tend to get offers more than the asking price. In detail the seller advise the second offer will be his if the fist buyer falls through. There's nothing wrong with that. Bob is a great guy and if he says the bat will be sold @ 625.00 pending paypal payment. It will happen. Now its his choice to wait and get paid or he wants it now. If the buyer can't pay him now how can you fault him when he just goes to the next person. Again nothing is set in stone yet cause Bob still is going honor the 625.00. I'm sorry if this message is a little sloppy, trying to type from my Iphone

Look the problem I see is the price jumping from $500 to a higher amount 1150, then back to 625...no one has address this issue!!! How can you offer 1 price here then have it jump around! Thats all I want clarification on.

Zonker, if the seller wants his money today, PayPal isn't the only way to do it. Why not send him a wire transfer? Just head down to your bank or Western Union and they can take care of it.

I have spent the day apologizing. I am done with it. I have the 88 and 89 bats, but this has gotten so old on the drive home I am going to decide possibly to just keep the bat. Maybe it is handwriting on the wall...

Again, Zonker was given an opportunity to purchase the bat TODAY. I have no money. The bat was available at price today. Why should I wait a week for money? Point is, and not sure why I am repeating, but I admitted wrongs, offered opportunity, and it is a lose lose deal because nobody is happy. End of story. Ok?

Thats the point I was trying to make...$500 to $1150 is a huge jump...then down to $625

My understanding is that this is supposed to be a fixed price forum. Put up the asking price, sell it at that price PERIOD. Don't play one man's offer against others offers trying to run an amateur auction for your own benefit. How did the price jump from $500 to over $1,000, now back to $650 or whatever? Pick a price carefully and honor it to the first buyer who agrees to close the deal. That's what I have a problem with. If you want an auction go to EBAY.

I acknowledge that you gave him an opportunity to do the deal. What I'm talking about is how'd it go from $500...to $625? Thats what I have a problem with in any deal. You were going to sell it for $500. If someone agrees to buy an item how does it go for more than the stated price, unless there is a back and forth between two interested parties.

I believe if you're going to sell something, do it on a first come first serve basis, not run your own personal auction. Thats what it seems like is happening here. I could be wrong, and if I'm missing some of the story please inform me. I'm trying to be general here. But its happened to me where I ask if something is available and someone says yes, but they want this and if you can go higher, cool. If you want to sell an item, and list a price and someone agrees to that price then you need to sell it at that price. Otherwise its bad business in my opinion.

I'm sure this will all be worked out when the new for sale section appears here on the forum.

Hopefully you guys can resolve this and be happy.
Key here is I gave an opportunity for him to take it today with paypal. I tried to make good. I want to close a deal, not argue about it. I have been at this 30 years, I think my reputation speaks for itself...

Zonker says he isn't here to bash me, but in rereading the earlier posts - it would appear he is...especially when he acknowledges that he sent our emails to administrators (I have no issue with that by the way). I came back and said I would gladly forget everything else and sell him the bat at $625 agreed upon price TODAY. Not tomorrow or the next day. I think I owned up to the fact that I agreed to a deal, then was offered over double the price. Half the people on here would say Zonker and I had a verbal agreement. The other half would say it was not final til money was in hand. Zonker refused the offer of paypal yesterday or today. I think I have did my share to rite any wrongdoings. Read my posts. And at this point the bat is still not sold, but being that he did not work this out privately and I still offered to doi something TODAY, I don't think anyone here can say too much negative. Look at the end scenario - I still have the bat, no money, no deal. And nobody happy. Case closed.

Whatever happened to the asking price of $500 in your initial post. This doesn't smell good! Are you attempting to run an auction, or selling an item at a fixed price to your collecting peers?

as i did discuss this with you last night what the best i could do was and you agreed again and all of it today was not our agreement. i do understand your situation it's the same as almost everybody's on here. look all i can do is what we agreed on the second time as when i agreed on that it wiped out our first agreement. if you cant honor that, then sell it by all mean's i'll understand. my post on here was not to downgrade you personally by any mean's i like you and have trusted you in the past with alot of my money. it was posted so this base can be covered by g.u.u. for future transaction between member's in the future. we are held to a higher standerd here so i thought this kind of thing should be addressed befor any more deal's like this go down.
