Good afternoon - I purchased three Brooklyn Dodger George "Shotgun" Shuba World Series game used bats from a single lot in the Mastro Auction that just concluded two nights ago (www.mastroauctions.com Lot #1718). It will probably be another couple of weeks before I receive the bats, but am looking to sell the one from 1952 only. I thought I would offer it here before likely posting it to Ebay, as needed. If anyone is interested, please contact me directly at dwatson@fbm.com. The description of all three bats from Mastro is set forth below. Note that the 1952 World Series bat comes with a MEARS LOA and a grade of A-7. Shuba played for the Bums from 1948 through 1955 and went 3 for 10 in the '52 Series. Thanks.
"Among Shuba's diamond-used artifacts is the offered trio of bats—each one turned specifically for World Series battle. Ranging in size from 34-1/2" (1) to 35" (2) and in weight, from 31-oz. to 34-oz., these white ash weapons were respectively shipped to the pinch-hitting staple for the 1952, 1953 and 1955 Fall Classics—the latter lumber being of utmost importance to all who cherished the Bums' long-awaited quelling of the Bronx Bombers. Each bat is a Hillerich & Bradsby "B91" signature model (complete with "Shotgun" moniker), which is the very type with which Shuba became the first National Leaguer to launch a pinch-hit home run. (Incidentally, Shuba's historic 1953 clout came off of a B91 model belonging to teammate Pee Wee Reese.) Shuba was to deliver four hits in an aggregate 12 October at bats. These uncracked items reveal evidence of minimal to moderate use, with ball and surface marks about the barrels of those employed in the latter two showdowns, and very light marks on the bat issued for the '52 World Series. The 1952 bat merits a grade of A-7 from MEARS, while latter two weapons have each been graded A-10 by MEARS. Accompanying is the original H&B shipping box in which the '53 bat was delivered, as well as LOAs from Dave Bushing & Troy Kinunen/MEARS, John Taube/PSA DNA."
