    MLB AUCTION Pedro Martinez

This could be a good deal....however, look at the description for the jersey..."a high probability that it was worn in a game." That is interesting......

The jersey definitely wasn't used while he pitched, it doesnt have Pedro's custom sleeves. He could have worn it while sitting on the bench?? The hat looks used, again, while he was on the bench though.

Just a couple of quick observations..1) What season did Pedro start customizing his jerseys (adding diff. material under the arms)? This jersey is from 2003 so would that apply? 2) The cap is an Opening Day edition thus, game worn (not just team issued), though he didn't pitch as stated in the auction & obviously it's not going to show much wear.

That is a good question...There are many things in this hobby which everyone "knows" to be true which when examined closely turn out not to be true.

For example: Would you buy a Pedro jersey from 2006 with solid provenance which had no customized sleeves? I hope the answer is yes.

Consider the following examples from Getty:
