This 1956 Boston Red Sox jersey was worn by former major league catcher Jim Pagliaroni. Pagliaroni, who played on the 1955 team, also appears on the 1956 Red Sox roster as having been issued #36. His 1956 season was cut short by becoming active military and spent 1956-57 serving his country. He returned to baseball in 1958, playing the next few years back up through the minors, returning to the majors in Boston for the 1960-62 seasons. Pagliaroni spent 1963-67 with Pittsburgh, 1968 with Oakland, and 1969 split between Oakland and Seattle before retirement.
The tagging and embroidery in the tail appear original, as does the RED SOX on the chest. There has been a vintage number change to 42 as evidenced in the photos. It is a size 44 +3 in length, appropriate for Pagliaroni's 6' 4" 210 lb frame. Buttons all match and appear to have original stitching. There are a few moth holes on the front, and some on the back, mostly in the tail region. Please e-mail me with any questions or if any additional photos are needed. Asking $1395 shipped.
