Vintage Game Worn Baltimore Colts Jersey

Offered is a very unusual game worn vintage Baltimore Colts jersey. The jersey was originally issued to Stan Cherry who played but 3 games for the Colts in 1973. The jersey then sat around in the Colts equipment room until on or about 1981 when it was re-issued to Mike Woods. When the jersey was re-issued to Mike Woods’ the Colts simply placed a Woods nameplate over the Cherry NOB. When the jersey is inspected from the inside, “Cherry” can clearly be seen.

The jersey is complete with a MEARS LOO who graded the jersey a 6.5. MEARS placed the following comments on their LOO: In photo/style match, Woods’ jersey is visibly slightly different from most of his teammates’. Originally issued in 1973 to Stan Cherry who played in 3 games – “Cherry” is visible underneath nameplate. Eddie Leonard Sporting Goods was a local distributor for both Spanjian and Sand Knit. Jersey style photo matched – 1981 Colts team photo.

The jersey was made by Spanjan and is a size XXXL. The Spanjan label is loose still firmly attached to the jersey. All of the numbers are heat-pressed onto the jersey. The NOB has individual letters heat-pressed onto a nameplate and the nameplate then sewn onto the jersey. Several team repairs.

If interested, just email me at flaa1a@comcast.net and I’ll get some scans out ASAP.

    Jim
Sounds like a cool jersey. Is the Spanjian tag marked "Pasadena", "Sportswear", or "San Marcos"? Is "Eddie Leonard" marked on the Spanjian tag or is it separate? I am a Spanjian historian and would love to see the tag.

    THANKS!

Hello, on the spanjian tag, it has

Made in California, U.S.A. Designed Espressly for EDDIE LEONARD SPT. GOODS CO.

-If you send me a email at flaa1a@comcast.net I will be more than happy to send you a closeup of the tag. I would post the scan on the forum but I can't seem to get the scans small enough to view on the forum.

Let's see if this scan will do it.

Re: Vintage Game Worn Baltimore Colts Jersey

Hello again. I am always looking for a 1970's Philadelphia Eagles game worn jersey and/or helmet. If anyone out there would be interested in trading their 1970's Eagles' jersey or helmet for my Colts jersey, I certainly would be interested in any such trade.

          Just email me at flaa1a@comcast.net

          Thanx for the interest,

          Jim

            Jim
Thanks for posting the Spanjian tag. I've never seen the "Made in California" tag with a distributor name attatched.
For future reference, you can lower the image resolution to about 72, to make it fit the screen.

            THANKS AGAIN!
