These Are From The Tbtc Game In July Of 2002. Wilson Betemit And Ozzie Guillen. I Have Had These Since 2002 And Is Time To Part With Them. They Had Mlb Stickers On Them Before I Recieved Them As Evidenced By The Adhesive Residue Left Behind On The Tags. Twill Shows Minor Puckering As Would Be Expected Out Of Jerseys Not Used Much.

i need some help here. someone told me that betemit did not play in 2002. now does anyone have a roster from 2002 which includes coaches? i know it was worn, but now by who? someone help me please.

I believe that the 2002 TBC jerseys all have come through MLB and bear the MLB hologram. If you were to look up the information on the hologram, it will tell you the specific date of the game. I had a couple of the coaches jerseys from the Braves game in particular and had no problem locating the date of the game. Is there a hologram on this jersey?

Fredi Gonzalez

Leo Mazzone

Ned Yost

I know Dews wears #53, Pendleton #9, Mazzone #54, Corrales #39, Hubbard #17, Fultz #59, McDowell #45... leaving the following possibilities:

Ned Yost
Fredi Gonzalez
One of the above coaches with different jersey number?

Any Braves folks out there with possibly more info???

it might be. nick, it does not have the mlb hologram as it was removed before i bought it. in doing roster searches my conclusion is that a coach wore but who? i mean, it is still a very nice jersey to have eventhough it is not from a star player.

OK, I posted that hastily... I just located his uniform number, and it took all of a minute of research -- 45. Now, that we have accounted for the jersey numbers of all rostered players and for anyone who could have possibly coached the Braves in 2002, I would like to propose a different scenario. I think this is the most likely thing I can come up with --


The Braves made the jerseys up in advance of the TBC game, but made some extras, accounting for the possibility of the team calling up select AAA players between the day the jerseys were ordered and the day of the actual game (you have to figure that they would need a jersey for a call-up in the event that a player on the 25-man roster gets hurt, etc.).
The Mets did this for their TBC game in 2006, and I did see jerseys in circulation for players who were not on the roster for the game -- such as Jose Valentin (who was on the DL), Brian Bannister (who was still on the AAA team), Alay Soler (AAA), etc.

As these Mets jerseys were available as "game issued" to the public, what is the possibility that the Braves #24 was as well -- and hence the reason that the sticker was removed in the first place before it was sold to Ivan. If the sticker (which ultimately cross-references a "game issued" item in the MLB database) is removed, the jersey can possibly be sold as either game issued or game used (thus commanding a bigger sale price).

I think this is probably not of any relevancy to the 'who wore #24', as Gonzalez definitely is not our man (he was either not there or wore a different number)...

1. Gonzalez is listed in the history of Braves coaches (on the official site of the Atlanta Braves) as having coached the team from 2002-Present.
2. Wikipedia states that Gonzalez was a Brave from 2003 to the end of the 2006 season... as does a news article also found on the Braves official website.

As Gonzalez is now the Marlins manager, at very minimum, the Braves coach history page is wrong... Contradictory information on the start date is found elsewhere on the same site; "to present" implies he's still there (which we all know is wrong, as he's the current Marlins manager).
