Game Used Elway And Bonds Jerseys For Sale

I decided to get back on the forum to see if anyone was interested in a mid 80's Elway game used jersey and a 1989 Barry Bonds game used Pirates jersey...the Elway is a Russell Size 44 and has the 100% nylon flag tag attached...the jersey shows good wear, and has significant peeling to the sleeve stripes...the jersey is autographed, but the autograph has faded..it has all screen on numbers, and ELWAY is screened on a nameplate attached to the back..the jersey is the classic old orange denver road jersey....the other jersey I have is a 1989 Barry Bonds game used Pirates home jersey...the jersey is a Rawlings size 46...has Set 1 1989 flag tag attached, and has EX sewn on a small square patch in the tail to designate extra length....jerseys shows moderate wear, and has everything sewn on in tackle twill...has BONDS nameplate sewn on the back....to avoid ANY questions or issues, I will guarantee that both jerseys will receive at LEAST a MEARS grade of A5 or offer a 100% refund on either jerseys...feel free to email me at wakeforest86@cox.net for pictures and details.......we just moved and have incurred some unexpected closing costs which force me to sell both jerseys at best offers that are received by tomorrow morning.....did not think I would return to the forum, but it is the best spot to buy, sell, and share game used memorabilia

Re: Game Used Elway And Bonds Jerseys For Sale

A couple issues concern me with this jersey:

                1. The standard RAWLINGS on the right sleeve-this is the first time I've ever seen it in this position on a Pirates 1989 home. It is usually embroidered directly into the top stripe on the right sleeves elastic stripe. In this case, it appears to be above the stripes sewn actually onto the sleeve, itself.

                2. The position of the front 24. It it positioned far past the S in PIRATES.

                3. The EX stands for EXTRA JERSEY (spare) not extra length.

A photo of Bonds in 1989 is below:

I am willing to sell the Bonds jersey for $1000....even if it is only team issued it is worth more than that...lmk...there was a 94 Bonds Pirates that sold for $500 on ebay...it was issued, and Bonds did not even play for the Pirates in 94...lmk

"..there was a 94 Bonds Pirates that sold for $500 on ebay...it was issued"

                        you're referring to this $430 "salesman's sample"?:

the seller doesn't state anywhere that it was game-issued. its well known that a salesmans sample is not even remotely close to a game-issue. if you knew bonds didn't play for the pirates in 1994 then why would you think they'd issue a jersey to him?

deacs, there's something disturbing here. you once had a football jersey that you were selling as "game used". it was missing a patch so you immediately turned around and stated it was game-issued as if that somehow made the missing patch irrelevant. the only difference between a game-worn jersey and a game-issued jersey is that former shows wear. that's it. "game issue" isn't vernacular for piece of garbage with missing patches, atypical fonts, etc. it's not some catch-all phrase that allows a seller to sell any piece of garbage without any liability or truth in advertising.

now you come out with a bonds "game used" jersey that, once again, suddenly goes from "game used" to "game issued". you originally described the bonds jersey as having "moderate wear". how can it be just "issued" if it has "moderate wear"?

you don't seem the least bit concerned that this sudden change in status has likely cost you at least a grand. after all, you thought you had a bonds gamer right? yet now, without any prompting whatsoever, you've elected to call it just issued and that change doesn't seem to have concerned you whatsoever. did you purchase it as game-worn, game-issued or something else? if you purchased it as "game worn" then you probably paid a hefty sum. if so, then why would you be so quick to call it game-issued and lose a substantial part of your investment?

anyway, as per howard's points, you might be overly generous in even calling it a "game issue". how of curiosity, how much do you have invested in the bonds?

fyi, within the last 3 or 4 months, there were a ton of bonds pirates procuts released onto ebay. not sure where they all came from.

a couple more issues with the bonds:

                              1) the style. specifically, the neck trim. in reviewing photos of the 1988, 1989, and 1990 pirates, i could not find a single photo with the sort of neck trim found on deacs' bonds jersey. the photos showed a thin line of yellow trim. deacs' bonds jersey shows a noticeably thick line of yellow trim. can anyone at all provide a single photo from 1988, 1989, or 1990 showing any pittsburgh pirate wearing a jersey that has a thick line of yellow trim as seen in deacs' bonds jersey? interestingly, i did find some photos showing a thick line of yellow being worn by the augusta pirates and welland pirates. see pic:

                              2) the size. it's hard to imagine the slim bonds wearing a 46 in 1989. here are some bonds gamers at auction and their sizes. from 1988-1993, bonds wore a 42 or 44. it's very hard to believe that in 1989 he was wearing a 46 and 4 yrs later in 1993 he was wearing a 44.
