Herschel Walker UGA Game Used Jersey & Helmet

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much a Herschel Walker University of Georgia Game Used Jersey '82 (Home, with a lot of wear) and/or a UGA Herschel Helmet '82 (With over 115 stars and a lot of wear) would be worth. I have both, and have been offered a pretty good amount for one or the other on numerous occasions. I was just hoping some of you guys would have a more accurate idea of the value of both.

    Thanks for your help

I would check american memorabilia's archives. While I do not recall ever seeing a college Walker for sale, they have sold other high profile college gamers. One that comes to mind is a Larry Fitzgerald Pitt jersey, which went for almost $3500 w/out the hammer fee. I would guess (although I am no expert) that an '82 Walker with repairs would fetch far higher than that.

I have a Walker Generals helmet with an LOA from the equipment manager that I purchased many, many years ago. I would be interested to hear what kind of feedback you get from others regarding your stuff, as I'd guess the Generals helmet would be of similar value to yours. Good luck.

      Thanks for you response -

I've been offered $6500.00 for the jersey, and $7500.00 for the helmet. I was told by another company that if I got them signed they would be worth more. I could get both of them signed anytime that I want, but I really do not think that it would raise the value any. I could be wrong though.

My personal opinion is that it would negatively affect the value before it would help it. Anyone who will drop that kind of cash for an item will think nothing of getting the sig added after the fact, and no one will look at it and go "I'd really love that, but it's unsigned".

If you have it signed, though, it'll drive away a ton of people who would love the item and hate the ink.

I agree with you on a jersey. However, on a helmet I would think a signature would be preferred. Plus, an autograph would likely be far easier to remove from a helmet than a jersey.

As for the prices you've been offered, I think I would sell for those prices, unless the pieces hold sentimental value. I wouldn't think twice about selling my Walker Generals helmet for $7,500. Any takers???

            fullback37,

I agree with what the other folks are saying. I would not get the items autographed unless you are planning on keeping them for yourself indefinitely. I also would sell for the $6500/7500 you were offered, as I just don't think you'll get more than that at an auction house or on ebay.
