I will have a handful of game worn 2006 WBC team Venezuela jerseys available within the next few days (home white and road maroon). Please see the roster below. There were some great names who played on this team. Howard,

Interested in a Carlos Hernandez if available. Are these jerseys M:B authenticated like the ones that were sold through the MLB Auction site?

        Thanks in advance,

          Chirs-
It does not appear his shirt will be available. A Ramon Hernandez will be availabel, however.

Not all of the WBC jerseys were obtained/sold through MLB, and these particular shirts were purchased outside of those and do not have the hologram.

Re: Venezuela World Baseball Classic Jerseys

I'm having a few concerns with this.

First Howard, I'm curious as to why you refused to post scans of any of the jerseys here on the boards, as I requested in email?

Secondly, the fact that you have 2 Victor Martinez jerseys available that are size 46 9as clearly stated on your list).

Victor Martinez wears a size 50.

I have photos, provided to me by an aquaintance, of his MLB Authenticate WBC Victor Martinez game worn jersey.....and it is a size 50. (I am waiting on pics of the tags).

If you would please explain how you have a home a road Victor Martinez game used WBC jersey that is several sizes smaller than what the actual athlete wears.

                  Thanks,
                  Jay

                    Jay-
You contacted me about the Martinez jerseys, and asked for photos. I immediately forwarded you detailed photos as you asked. Then, you sent me an email indicating you could not open them. As such, I offered to send them directly to another address or even your customer, assuring you I would not sell them to this individual.

As noted in my original posting, collectors should contact me with their desires, and I'll let them know which jerseys are available. Not only has the response been terrific, but I have also provided photos of various jerseys to those seeking them. I've been sending photos of equipment to collectors for over 2 years, and this is the first time I've had someone indicate they are encountering the problems you are having.

Because you can't open the file, I'm suppose to post photos of these jerseys on the Forum? You can't be serious! It's bad enough that the Forum has turned into your personal Ryan Zimmerman blog, however, I'm not going take my time to add to it. I've seen quite a few posts from other Forum readers responding to your wants, however, it appears Kim Stigall's perfect Zimmerman jersey is too expensive and Lockeroom Memorabila just does not have the items you are seeking. Have you actually purchased anything from those who have responded to you?

The WBC jerseys were purchased from an individual associated with the event. Additional jerseys from South Africa, Mexico and Korea were also purchased. Expereienced collectors and WBC collectors have purchased quite a few jerseys, and all have been extremely pleased. I'm not aware of a sizing issue, nor as to why a player would be issued a smaller or larger size than specified.

A copy of the emails sent to you are below:

I'm not posting them on the Forum.

I have sent other Forum members photos for the last 2 years and have never heard of this problem.

What other way do you suggest I send them to you?

Possibly forward another email address or your friends actual email address and I'll send them directly to him. I assure you I will not sell them directly to your friend, and will only forward the photos.

Re: Venezuela World Baseball Classic Jerseys

It's semi amusing how my question to you quickly turned into you questioning my personal finances and which items I choose to buy or pass on. Believe me Howard, I wouldn't want to be forced to be as smug and arrogant as to show a copy of my last bank statement. I could buy your entire collection 10 times over, regardless of what it consists of.

I have made it clear several times that I have just recently entered into buying game used items. I am a VERY cautious buyer. Which means I don't jump at every item I see. I make sure my purchases are those that I want.

So where you get off assuming that Kim's jersey was too expensive I don't know. I do feel the price is too high. Big difference.

Your assumptions are comical at best.

I am a very patient man Howard. Though I seem to not have any patience for scammers.

Moving past your very weak attempt at deflection...

I still pose the question to you...

How is it that my aquaintance has an MLB Authenticated Game Worn WBC Victor Martinez jersey size 50

And you have (2) Victor Martinez WBC jerseys that are a size 46, that are not MLB Authenticated to which you claim are game worn?

While you also state that they have very light use.

All of this leads me to believe that what you actually have are Authentic majestic jersey....but are far from game worn.

                          Jay,

Welcome to the unfortunate part of the forum. Be careful not to bated into games as it is very easy to get into with certain people on the board. For some reason the money or affordability of items is one person's way of twisting a story or bating you into a fight.

Anyway, last year a player I was working with told me that during the WBC he was asked to wear a new jersey every game. I inquired about obtaining one of his road jerseys, but he could not give me a gamer, only a new one. He offered me a Size 48. This player normally wears a 42 or 44, so the discussion came up on sizes He told me that many of the jerseys made for him were way larger than he normally wears. He said there were countless 46 and 48s that were way oversized. He said that boxes of the jerseys were never worn by him and others. I would suspect those were sent back to Majestic or given away and released as game issued or retail. One additional point (and this only applies to the Dominican team as that is all I have knowledge of), is that the holgrams were slapped on the jerseys immediately after the game was over. As mentioned above, the player I was working with could not get me game used WBC jersey because they were taken off, holgramed, and sent off unwashed.

It sounds like Howard has a good source within the Venezualan team, so I am sure the pieces are good. It is just too bad the pieces aren't MLB authenticated as long term that will be a better investment for your collection. I have a family member that used to work at Deloitte, and being in this hobby I asked multiple times about the MLB authentication program. She said that the people authenticating those items don't know enough to do that job. That is why there are flaws in the MLB authentication program. I have a game used, cracked, and signed bat that is authenticated as being a replica autographed bat. Hah!

                            EGameUsed,

Thank you for your advice. I will certainly keep that in mind when it comes to people here.

As for the issue of the jerseys and their sizes, I completely understand that MLB Authentication is not perfect.

If I am wrong I will be the first to offer an apology.

However, at this time I don't feel that I am wrong.

The conclusion of this will show that either the jersey I posted pics of (size 50) or the jerseys Howard is selling (size 46) are game ISSUED and not game WORN.

I currently have several sources that I have been in touch with all day confirming that Victor Martinez wears a size 50 jersey.

I find it highly improbable that he "sqeezed" into a size 46 for any of the WBC games. Which still leads me to believe that the size 46's are game issued, but not worn.

I am not looking to attack anyone here, I am simply looking to get a straight and conclusive answer to this "issue".

Again, If I am wrong in any way I will apologize to Howard and to the forum.

For what it's worth, I've handled several incredible game used World Baseball Classic game worn jerseys that were not authenticated by Major League Baseball - including examples from both Venezuela and the Dominican Republic (sorry, no Victor Martinez). These were obtained from extremely reliable sources, even before the WBC jerseys were auctioned off online by MLB.

We could devote an entire thread to D&T and their reliability. I recently had a friend of mine show me a Jim Thome "game worn" jersey from Jackie Robinson Day that was authenticated by MLB (signed by Thome, complete with the hologram). The jersey was a size 46. IF Thome wore that shirt, it would have fit him like Under Armour.
