This is a hammered 1999 David Segui Rawlings bat (with "Blue Jays" on barrel). It has a #3 on the knob. Segui was traded from Seattle to Toronto in late July 1999, he wore 21 with Seattle and 19 with Toronto. Segui then started 2000 with the Rangers. Vernon Wells was called up on 8/30/99 and got 88 at bats in that first rookie action. Vernon wore #3 during that stint. He switched to #10 in 2000 - only 2 AB. Only played 96 ABs in 2001, before becoming full time MLer in 2002.
Norberto Martin wore #3 for a time with the Blue Jays in 1999, but his last game was 5/4/1999 - long before this bat was manufactured. There was no #3 for Toronto in 2000.
Based on these facts, I believe this to possibly be one of Vernon Wells' earliest MLB game used bats.
