Braves are in town against the Rockies (Rox lost tonight) until Thursday.
I missed Larry at the hotel this morning, so I finally called in a favor with the visiting clubhouse manager who got a message to Larry that I was there with this bat.
After BP, Larry called me down next to the dugout and I got to have a one on one with him for about minutes...
I added him to my All Time Rangers jersey (along with Jim Fregosi who is here with the braves), he signed his RC, signed the Toledo Mud Hens hat my friend sent me from Toledo (thank you Ryan!) and finally, he signed my bat and took a picture with me.
What an incredibly nice guy!!! I will post pictures soon.
It was an amazing experience for me - I've met tons of players including superstars, musicians, actors, etc but I was actually shaking when I got to meet Larry.
He was my boyhood idol with the Rangers in the early-mid 80's and I have waited almost 30 years to meet him face to face, so this was a MAJOR deal for me.
Thanks again to Ben (Gorilla777) for the awesome bat - Larry really seemed to enjoy seeing it as well.
All the best -
Smitty
Smitty,
That is great that you were able to meet up with Larry to show him the bat and then get it signed as well. It must of been a trip for him to see a bat of his from '76.
Please make sure to post the pics of it newly signed when you get a chance.

Bumping this back up to thank Ben (gorilla777) for the BEAUTIFUL Larry Parrish LVS S2 - Bicentennial Model - GU Bat!!!
He was awesome to deal with and offered me an even better bat than those I had been looking at when I started this search... and I'd always wanted a Bicentennial bat anyway for the collection!
Thanks to everyone else for their comments and information...
that is interesting two grand slams in 1 week in both League, tough feat to recreate indeed. I know Andre Dawson hit a grand slam in back to back nights in 1990 against the Expos I think, I was 10 at the time and remember thinking that mattingly's grand slam record was going to get blown away, dawson didn't hit another grand slam the rest of the season if i remember...
underrated player from the 1980's for sure. Interesting that his son David PArrish got a call up from the yankees but never got in a game. That has to be tough to have that happen to you, but not get in a game. That happened to Jace Brewer with the devil rays in 2000 too I think.
Jake -
Yeah, back in the day he was my guy on the Rangers. My buddy got a ball signed by him a couple of years ago in Toledo when he was managing the Toledo Mud Hens.
Now that he's the Batting Coach for the Braves, I'm hoping to find a bat, hat or jersey to have him sign when the Braves come here to Coors Field this year.
Here's a bit of trivia you may not know about Parrish - and as far as I know it's still true - he holds a Major League record... the ONLY player to hit two grand slams in one week - in BOTH leagues. Did it as an Expo (NL) and a Ranger (AL).
