Today I got my new bat in the mail today. A 40G.K store model. And i notice something funny about it. The seller never listed this in the listing. But on the bat there's side Written. I cant read all of it. But it say's (6-29-22 then Willers, then something then Store). And theres more writing below this. Also you can see where a label used to be. Now why would a store send a bat back to hillerich & bradsby.

It could have been for a city or local team that the store sponsored.sigpic

Wouldn't they just go buy another one from a store instead of sending it to Hillerich to make them make more.Comment

Re: need help with vintage bat
For instance, if the player liked the bat overall, they may have sent a used bat back with the request that H&B make new bats 4 ounces heavier and with a different knob.
Keep in mind that it isn't just high profile players that were ordering bats. Pretty much anyone in organized baseball was able to do this at the time.Comment

Re: need help with vintage bat
As stated by bat_master not only Pro players but ball clubs and even hardware stores could have a specific model turned for them. There are several examples still in the H&B vault that are side written like what you are describing.Brian HillerichComment
