    Chance bat and Thompson

Any info/thoughts on the two bats pictured?
Both are 34" with no inch markings on the knob

The "Chance" bat is a very poor attempt at a forgery. Legitimate sidewriting from that era has a different handwriting style. The stamped/carved "CHANCE" was not done by H&B as the size and font is incorrect. This bat reminds me of some fake sidewritten bats we saw on e-bay a while back.

Always looking for vintage game used bats of Houston Buffs and Colt .45's players.

Agree completely with the Chance evaluation. It was a nice bet before they monkeyed with it.

The ring bat looks phoney as well. Not at all consistent with the period paint or stain that would have been used and the knob and bat shape are off for the period. Sorry for the bad news, but neither has much value.

Thank you for the responses. Two bats I looked into.
