Eddie Mathews Adirondack bat Model 65S

I recently found an Adirondack bat that says MATHEWS TYPE in all white lettering and has the model # 65S stamped into the knob. Any information is appreciated. Could this be a game bat? Thanks

Re: Eddie Mathews Adirondack bat Model 65S

A controversy (still) exhists for "S" model Adirondack bats made prior to 1968. Some collectors believe that Adirondack offered some "S" model bats both to pro players and to the general public. The lack of "S" series bats found in professional player's collections would indicate minimal, if any, use at the professional level. In this instance, consider closely the source of the bat, the quality of the wood, and the quantity and quality of the use. For Eddie mathews, the most characteristic length would be 35 or 35.5 inches, with 36 inch lengths not uncommon. For shorter lengths on a "S" series bat, no thanks. Any "S" series bat will bring only a fraction of the price of, say, a Mathews 79A or 113A Adirondack bat.
