Need Help: Bobby Thomson 1950's Bat
Hi Everyone,
I just picked up a Bobby Thomson Adirondack bat on the super cheap ($16!) and wanted to know more about it.
The markings and labeling on it seem to be circa 1950's from Adirondack, but I am not an expert in this era and don't know how available these bats (Store model or actual player issued model) were. Adirondack was supposedly the brand used in the "Shot Heard Round the World" and the famous photo of Bobby kissing the barrel after that game is the same as the bat pictured here. Obviously this is not that bat, but still awesome that it is the same model.
I had been looking for a Giants era Thomson bat for a long time now and figured for the price it was worth it even if it is a store model.
As of now I don't have a back story to it, so I am in the dark as to it's history.
That said, what do you guys think? Store model? dating? Game used?
