    1980 LA Dodgers Jersey nameplate

Hello! Did the 1980 LA Dodgers wore nameplates on the back of their jerseys? I have a jersey made by Goodman and Sons that clearly shows it was sewn with a name plate then sewn with letters directly to the jersey. Signs of being recycled? Thanks.....

Normally, the Dodgers didn't use plates in that era. However, there were instances where NOB plates would be used for jerseys grabbed out of storage for Old-Timers Games and similar occasions. Huggins & Scott had one such jersey in their auction several months ago, put together for Augie Galan.

Here is a photo from the 1979 Dodgers Yearbook showing a nameplate on the road jersey.

        Here are pics.....

There appears to a patch before, most probably the All star game patch LA 1980. There's an imprint of Crow, most probably from Don Crow, the catcher that played only 9 games in 1982 but he used number 9. Steve Garvey used number 6 right? But seems this jersey was recycled?????

Here's another rare example of an active player wearing a nameplate for the Ddogers:

The picture appears to be taken in 1988 spring training (note the Vero Beach Anniversary patch partially visible on the left sleeve). Maybe the few instances like this and the Thomas were byproducts of spring training...?
