I just picked up Merle Anthony's 1974 AL Umpire's uniform. I'm always interested to see exactly who made the older equipment. If anyone else is interested, the jacket and pants were made by Appel+Brooks+Webber. The jacket is maroon and very heavy - I hope it's winter weight and they had a summer version. It has an American League patch on the breast pocket. The pants are heavy, too, and a bright blue. The pants have a tag that says:
Mr. M. Anthony
Date 12/74 L 30 W 40
American League Baseball Club
and the number 102-18.
The shirt is a light blue short sleeve shirt made by Hathaway with the same AL logo patch on the breast pocket. The shirt is light weight and doesn't show much use.
The hat is a blue short-bill hat with AL on the front, made by KM pro. The tie is a blue clip-on with no maker's label.
Finally, the belt is red leather and doesn't show much use. It was made by Mcauliffe Uniform Corp, which was a surprised. I wonder who made the belts for them?
Pictures to follow...........
