(Already posted on Net54 & got some good info but nothing conclusive. A couple guys suggested going to GUU, which I've been meaning to join anyway so here I am. Apologies to those of you who follow both and hope you don't mind a post from a newbie.)
So, I'm very curious about this jersey I just picked up, which appears to be 1966 Chicago Cubs #18 (Glenn Beckert). It is heavily worn, a bit shrunk, rather soiled and has lots of loose stitching. Definitely not newly made and does not seem like a period souvenir jersey either. Here are pics - comments below ...

On the one hand it matches this '66 jersey http://jun08.hugginsandscott.com/cgi...?itemid=101112
On the other hand it does not match this '66 jersey, also a Beckert, both in tagging and a size http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...entoryid=36207
At first I thought size couldn't be right for Beckert at 6'1" but then I saw an Ernie Banks jersey from the same era - also size 40 and he was almost as big as Beckert.
And a viewer on Net54 said the collar tagging was incorrect and from what I can see from other Cubs jerseys of the era he might be right.
Could this be a salesman's sample perhaps? Any information or insight from the group would be much appreciated.
