    New Pickups - March

Finally have something new to post. Haven't picked up anything really fun with the Sox for a while until this came along last night. I still haven't received it yet, but I found this great piece of sheet music last night on the bay. It is from 1912 and references the BoSox as pennant winners. This will go great next to a 1903 piece of sheet music I have for the Boston Americans March after the Bostons won the 1st WS.

What I find great about this piece is the composer...no other than a Martin Barrett. Couldn't possible be a relative, I know, but pretty uncanny for anyone who's a Sox fan. I'm really fortunate that I think this piece was a sleeper. I'm sure it would have gone a lot higher in a major auction.

1888 Scrapps Dan Brouthers....that makes 7 down and 11 to go for the set. I have 3 out of the 4 hall of famers in the set so the rest should be a little easier.

I got real lucky with the Cubs pin among a group of slogan pins. After selling the rest of the lot to the under bidder, I'm only out $11 for this beauty. It has a great Perfections Cig. back. The A's pin is in pristine shape. Not a tough pin to find, but I love it.

I picked up these three recently. The Ruth is awesome in person.

Great bats. I've never seen that barrel logo on your Hanna. All early Hanna bats are golden in my oppinion. Where did you find it?

            Mike,
The Ruth came from Lelands/Gaynor auction last month.
            Thanks

I picked this up today at an estate auction - I was very excited to get this as this is the first and only Lincoln, Nebraska minor league baseball pinback that I have ever seen. I may be able to pinpoint the year becaue I'm sure that the date on the pin is for opening day. It is pre-1930s for certain because of the reference to Antelope park.

Nice pin Dan. Muchinsky has it in his book with another that says "you will find me at antelope park May 10. I'm sure they are quite rare, congratulations.

Thanks Mike, I've looked through the Muchinsky book probably 20 times and I have never noticed that pinback in there.

Mike, I looked through the Muchinsky book and noticed that pinback that you pointed out and right next to it is the pinback that I picked up yesterday as well.....upon further inspection of the book I've noticed a similar pinback that actually says Lincoln on it that I am now sure is from Nebraska. I guess I have at least two more to shoot for.

                      Guys,

This book you are referencing, I've seen only the cover. Does it have much for the Red Sox prior to 1920? Would it be worthwhile picking up?

                      Thanks, Greg

Greg. The only Boston (pre 1920) pins are the Champions pins from 1912 and 1915 and a couple Royal rooters photo pins. The book is pricey ($90) and only worth it if you are into a lot of pinbacks.

Thanks for saving me 90 bucks Mike!

Now all I need is $7410 to pick up that Royal Rooters button.

I think I'm gonna need a second job!!
