    Jackie Robinson Bat w/Pics

I am a BMB guy and I was directed this way because of the game used knowledge/authenticity of some of your members and I need some help....

My grandparents went to a yard sale of a family friend the other week and saw a Jackie Robinson bat for sale there and purchased it. The husband had played minor league ball for the White Sox and Dodgers during the 40s and he became friends with Jackie. The story the widow told my grandparents was that Jackie gave him this bat he had used to take batting practice later on in his career. It is a Louisville Slugger made by the H&B Company and has JR4 engraved on the knob. The tape looks like it is "electrical" tape on the upper handle (confused by this). Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated! I was also told to contact John Taube at JT Sports, and I am going to do that tomorrow. Thank you in advance for any comments/assitance!

    Hi Derek,

    Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately this bat is a store model. The knob markings and foil stamped lettering on the bat are what differentiate this bat from a professional model.

Also, based on the labeling this bat looks to have been made in the 1973-75 era which is after Jackie Robinson passed away. The "Registered Trademark" symbol above the 'd' in Powerized without a model number on the barrel is what distinguishes the year.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. Thanks for posting.
