MLB does this with balls in their MLB Auctions milestones auction. They define milestone very loosely and try to up the value of any item from that game. In small print on the auctions they note that it is NOT the milestone ball. But the hologram number description is similar to the one in question meaning deceptive as heck and you get people like this seller who exploit it. An ordinary baseball from a regular season game for $350 is insane.

This ball on eBay is most likely not the ball hit for his 2500th hit.
A quick stroll up and down the MLB database confirms that almost 25 balls were authenticated from this game with the same exact additional information. It can easily be confused for being the actual 2500th hit ball without conducting proper research.Leave a comment:
