    Re: June Pick Ups

I just received this Lenny Dykstra 1988 NLCS game issued bat.

Instead of packing peanuts the seller used two pairs of swim trunks, 2 gyms shorts, and a Toronto parks dept t shirt. All my size too! Bonus!

    Re: June Pick Ups

I guess I just don't understand this whole photo matching phenomenon. Now I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just new to all of this and it doesn't seem fool proof to me.

So you have a picture of a jersey and it has loose threads or a little dirt speck on it...who is to say you didn't pull those threads or smear the dirt?

I guess this relates more to people who turn around and sell them...if you were collecting them for yourself it would be pointless to fake it.

Anyway, just something I've been wondering.

Well now see, therein lies the problem. A photomatch is an exact thing, there's no such thing as an "almost photomatch" or as another poster said earlier, "almost positive" its a photomatch. A photomatch must be exact by the very nature of the definition.

Where is the match? I see that you circled the tar/Mota on the handle, but I don't see a uniqueness to it. You also circled the M logo in the middle, but I didn't see why. Can someone clue me in here. thanks, Ricardo
Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't see it. Looks like a bunch of circles wandering aimlessly.
I dont see a match there either, same on that Markakis bat. Looks like your pointing out random areas on each bat, I would say style match on both. Their is nothing on either bat that would say that is without a doubt a match .

with that said I know it is the bat as I got it from an impecable source who got it from the O's... as well... I am not randomly circling areas... I was trying to circle where the tar stopped and started on the bat as well as some ball marks... Getty doesn't have any photos so I did the best I could off MLB.TV

As far as the Markakis goes... no the photo doesn't have a model number on ot, but to me the black tape overlaying the white is perfect

I realize everyone is tough on photomatches, but I have never seen two bats that are exactly alike, as well I have only ever seen two or three perfect photomatches...

I think these are good, and since they are going to hang on my wall, in the end thats all that really matters

Wow! So you are telling me he broke it, and 10 days late you have it? That's cool.

    Great Photomatch!

Therefore, I never posted a picture of him wearing that jersey because he has more than one of them. With this hat there can only be one (I hope).
Just be careful - there's a looooooong way between photomatch and "almost positive"....just ask Lampson!

It looks identical to the one I have. Plus how many hats are they going to have for one player for a hat that was only worn on one day to be later auctioned off? I'm banking on that's the hat.
