Only two of these two-tone bats were shipped to Albert in 2002 as confirmed by an Old Hickory rep. I have yet to see the other two-tone bat surface and I have never seen any Old Hickory Pujols bats with the same color combo.

....anddddd my other favorite item makes it to the board. In all seriousness, Your story behind that bat makes me want cry . What a steal on your part. Secondly, Id probably sell off a huge chunk of collection for that baby. What a wonderful bat of my favorite player.

My rarest bats have to be a couple of 98 Yankee bats from. Probably a tie between Mike Lowell and Mike Figga.

I felt the same way after I missed out on this same bat on eBay in 2008. Good thing I didn't win because I got it from Tim for a lot less then I would have paid.

Austin Jackson's First MLB Bat. He used it for his first 15 MLB at bats and used it to record his first career hit(a double). He also used it to record his first career single, triple and RBI. He got his first 5 hits in total with this bat. I think it's rare, you can only have one "First".

Four months ago MEARS auctioned a GU Ozzie Smith bat that they termed "one of the earliest known to exist." http://www.mearsonlineauctions.com/L...px?lotid=17512

Well, not quite. Here is almost certainly THE earliest Ozzie GU bat in the hobby. This bat is from his second professional order, shipped on 3/21/1978. (The only documented order prior to that is dated 11/3/1977 -- two model U1 bats that were typically made up when a player signed his first endorsement contract.) I obtained this bat (and signature) in person while interviewing Ozzie at the Old Ox restaurant in San Diego early in Ozzie's 1978 rookie season. This cupped end model C271 was one of an order of 12 bats, and his only order matching those specs during the 1977-79 label period. A slight handle crack, rack marks, hit marks, and a small area of deadwood. Pretty much an impossible bat to replace.

Most RJ and Astros collectors I talk with seem unaware that he even bothered to have bats made up in the brief time he was in Houston, and I've never seen or heard of another one. He brought this one to ST with the DBacks in '99.

I've never seen a used one, but I know a couple of peope who own Randy Johnson issued bats from his time with the Astros. Here's a pic of one.
