Corsairs, The Chief Meyers bat is 35" and weighs 48oz. The Felsch bat of yours is very nice.

Earliest known SAM Bat (made in Jan 1997 before the company even formed). I got it from a family that grew up with Sam Holman (owner of SAM bats) in South Dakota and bought the bat from Sam's sister. Not exactly like finding a Pete Browning LVS, but still a famous bat company.

Well, that sounds a lot more plausible than the 32 1/2 oz. 34" Spalding bat with "Meyers" in block letters that was auctioned a few years ago.

This is an awesome thread! Many cool bats to drool over. Great idea.

To me, the Ty Cobb wins hands down.

Yeah, I've seen that listing and thought the same thing. Read Meyers account of the bats he used in The Glory of Their Times.

It's definitely a rough bat. The barrel and knob are very square, and it's very long and skinny.

Sam told me that he made a little league prototype that's the true original, but he lost it. So this one really could be the oldest one out there.

Any more unusual bats out there?

                    Re: Your Rarest bat

I think it would be safe to call this bat "unusual". Perhaps BMH could shed some light on what it is, exactly, unless someone else knows.

As you can see, it's got six small holes drilled into the handle, and filled with either a lighter wood or cork - it's hard to tell.

The holes are spaced anywhere from a little over 2" to almost 4" apart.

I think it was used by Ansman in DBacks ST in 2004. I bought it years ago at the Team Shop.

                      Re: Your Rarest bat

This bat has been in my family since before I was born. Found it on a recent trip to the Dominican Republic. My grandmother had it for protection (haha). We got Albert to sign it and I'm thinkin about passing it around so the rest of the family who used it so they can sign it as well. What do you guys think??

Its a Louisville Slugger H&B 125LL. Its a little league bat and has someones name in cursive. The only letters I can make out are onake? marelli? I not sure of the name... I did forget to mention that this was our family bat back in the D.R. Albert and a few of my uncles used to praise this thing. In the Dominican Republic having a bat like this was something special in those days and still (in some parts) today.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention...If you ever watch the Dove commercial featuring Albert.. when Albert is flexing his muscles as a young boy...I'm right next to him (haha). My half second of fame... Sorry about the scan, out of town and forgot my camera...
