I would have to agree with Philsfan. If there was even a slight chance of WS use, those jerseys would have a 4 figure price tag. Though $300 is a steal for a WS issued jersey.

Re: Jimmy Rollins 2008 World Series Game Worn Jersey

It was originally believed that Jimmy Rollins kept his game worn 2008 World Series Jersey. It turns out, that's not the case. I just picked it up. Each player was issued 2 home and 2 road for the 08 WS. These were not worn in the regular season and those were sold seperately. After the series, some took 1, some took both. What wasnt taken was stored away and just recently brought out and authenticated. Since the Phillies had no way of knowing which were worn and which werent, they were holo's as issued.

I was able to photomatch this one by using the stripes, as well as some faint dirt residue on the front. Its hard to see it in the photos, but its there. Each and every stripe matches up. The wash tag shows tremendous use for 2 games.

Is this a jersey that you bought at the first exhibition game on March 29th? I noticed about this jersey after I sat down for the start of the game, but decided to wait until after the game was over to see about it. I agree with philsfan that this jersey was most likely a used jersey during the season with patch added on, but for $300 it is easily worth that for Rollins even if it is team issued.

I was one of the first people there at that stand because I bought the Halladay (blue), Utley (blue), Brown (blue), and Schmidt (green). With regards to my jerseys that were listed as team issued, the 3 blue jerseys all show use (Halladay is listed as team issued Henderson). The Schmidt jersey would have only been used for 1 game so it would depend on if he wore a jersey for that game (I believe it would be the 2010 St. Patrick's Day game). I really did not want to spend any more, but I could have easily bought the Rollins, along with a few other jerseys, and the hats as well.

I'm with you. Regardless of what the Phillies say, the photos seem to prove otherwise. Nice pickup and when you factor-in the price, an awesome pickup.

I looked at the photomatching of the jersey that Dewey provided me. Does look like an exact match, but without proper paperwork or a hologram, we are all just guessing. I just can't imagine that Rollins took off one of his World Series jerseys from such a historic year and threw it in a pile in the clubhouse and nobody did anything with it until the Spring of 2011. And what of the other dozen or so other "World Series Patch" jerseys that Hollinger and the Phils were also selling for $300 and less? Are they all World Series Game Used Jerseys??? If I had to guess, the jerseys were all game issued and ready for play, some may have been used during the season, some were never used. The Phils (who always love making money off us folks) stuck 08 patches on the arms and decided to sell them for a few hundred dollars since they couldn't truly confirm that any of them were ever worn. The 08 patches attract a ton of folks, including me. Again, not trying to discredit anyones purchase. More power to you if you got a steal on a Rollin's historic jersey, I just think it is not a slam dunk.

There is no disputing a photomatch. It is the jersey he is wearing in the photos, and they are from the 2008 World Series. Seems like some people may be a little jealous. Every single pinstripe, the dirt staining on the front, there is no question this is the jersey.

We definitely need to get more info about what exactly was donated as well. You can't tell from the pictures and it does not clearly state that it was his 2008 World Series uniform. I just can't believe that the Phillies would have sold the actual 2008 World Series jersey on that day with the other jerseys. Also, you would think that they would have authenticated every jersey like they did in 2009 (I have road jerseys that state Games 1, 2 and 6). When I went back that night, I took one of the jerseys (it may have been Brett Myers), and the tag looked new to me. Still, it hurts that I did not buy the Rollins as I did not want to spend more.

I cant see the dirt stains, is it the lighting, can someone post a clearly picture of the jersey, the stripes seem to line up, looks good to me, i would love to see the reminisce of the dirt though

I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to photomatches and it looks dead on. I think the naysayers just have sour grapes because they passed on it. A photomatch is better than any paperwork or hologram out there.
