I picked up 2 Bobby Doerr game used bats from the 40's in the last week! Wasn't planning on getting two, but I picked up one last night in Crown auctions for 950 total! So I grabbed it. Full Taube coa on it. From either 1948-49. Awesome bat. Only flaw is a small chip out of the knob. The other one is from Hunt auctions and is a stellar 1940s Doerr with fantastic use and no flaws. Both are uncracked.
Picked up some sweet old Cardinals bats today, including a '67-'68 Maris, a '67 Flood ASG bat, a '67 Cepeda, a '69 Pinson, and an '82 Orlando Sanchez (yeah, I know he's not as exciting as the others, but he's a tough get for '82 Cardinals collectors). The Cepeda and Pinson bats are signed on the back of the barrel. The Flood is interesting; he isn't listed anywhere as a '67 All Star, but it was his best season offensively. He injured his shoulder running into the outfield wall six days before the ASG and went on the DL for 30 days. That explains why he wasn't an ASG participant, but I have to assume he must have been slated to be an All Star before the injury.
Recently picked up Adam Dunn's batting helmet from his 25-game run with the Oakland Athletics. Dunn was wearing this helmet while recording his final career H, 2B, HR, R, RBI, BB, HBP and SO.
