Congratulations to Garry Templeton on being elected to the Padres HOF along with Benito Santiago. Happy to see the deal for Ozzie Smith as "The Wizard" had worn out his welcome in San Diego. Tempy was more favored and respected by Friar fans and one of the heroes in 1984.

Before todays Usher Gestapo, you could roam the stands and actually get to know the players. You could always strike up a conversation with a player one on one.

My Dad found out Paul Dade loved to smoke cigars. So, before the next game we went out and bought him a nice stogie and gave it to him. He loved it.

Here's a 1980 Paul Dade. A straight hem which fortunately didn't hit the year tag.

"The King"! Don't know how he got that nickname . . . . But, living up to his post season heroics, Jim Leyritz helped power the Padres through Houston and Atlanta to win the National League in 1998.

Here's his 1999 jersey with the shortened sleeves and narrowed sleeve openings. Guess he wanted to show off the guns . . . .

Thanks! I would like to get a black bat with the friar and the /3000 and a blonde friar bat and I think I would be done with Gwynn items after that.

Well, here is my last post of us Padres/Gwynn fans celebrating the Batman's passing.
I have a collection of his cleats he wore throughout his 20 year career.

Here is a set of a game used helmet and hat documenting a four hit game. Tony had only 36 games where he had four hits in a game during his entire 20 year career.

    Hey Jerry,
You're right. But in this case, this is Tony's "Frankenstein" glove. Unique with the re-sewn label and painstakingly using a marker to blacken the outside of the glove. I believe he also explained it was a mixture of marker and shoe polish.

This was probably a favorite glove of his which he had the new tag added later. Crazy that he hand colored the entire glove with Sharpie.
