Right, but steriods or perscription drugs, he still took something that was banned from MLB.

"oh my doctor/cousin/trainer gave me something and i didn't know what i was taking and i didn't know it was banned". barry thought it was a flax oil, arod and his "boli", clemens and palmeiro and their "B12", etc. "I don't know what they were," Giambi testified. "He didn't really explain them. He just had told me to take them." btw, steroids aren't the only performance-enhancers. HGH isn't a steroid.

Isn't that what they all say once they get busted?? What a shame. Manny was so talented. I just gotta ask why?? WHY?? He didn't need it!!! Me being a Red Sox fan I gotta wonder if this was going on with his days in Boston? WHY!!!!!!

"Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me," Ramirez said. "Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now.
"I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons. I want to apologize to [Dodgers owner Frank] McCourt, Mrs. McCourt, [manager Joe] Torre, my teammates, the Dodger organization, and to the Dodger fans. LA is a special place to me and I know everybody is disappointed. So am I. I'm sorry about this whole situation."
After consultation with the Players' Association and his personal representatives, Ramirez waived his right to challenge the suspension. He will lose about one-third of his $25 million salary.
Ramirez's test result was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul has been told by the Dodgers that he will be promoted later today, according to The Times. Ramirez would be eligible to return to the Dodgers' lineup for their July 3 game against San Diego.
In his first full season as a Dodger, Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs. Los Angeles has bolted to a 21-8 record -- best in the majors -- and a 13-0 record at home that set the modern major league record for home winning streak to start a season.
The report of a Ramirez positive test is the second to rock the sport in three months. In February, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez admitted that he used steroids from 2001-2003 while with the Texas Rangers.

This is the best news Arod has heard in a long time! This wiil take some of the heat off of him.

Although I wish none of this ever happened, I'm glad to see Arod can at least take a day or two of rest from being bashed. Let Manny have a few days of it.

I wish all 103 names would come out. No one person should take the heat alone out of 103 who did it.

I am not being naive, when I sit in the stands and look at Manny and his broad strong shoulders.....I have wondered.

But he has been known to have an unmatched work ethic....very disiplined.

So we'll see. It's upsetting, but to just ASSUME it's STEROIDS may be wrong. I would suggest you be patient and wait for the details before you hang the guy.

I dont see what the question is. He was taking a drug that had something illegal in it. Whether he knew it or not, he was still taking it and had an advantage. Afterall, isnt this why Palmeiro is in the situation he is in now?

"Ultimately, although I never intentionally put a banned substance into my body, the independent arbitrator ruled that I had to be suspended under the terms of the program." According to Palmeiro all of his previous tests over the two years including the 2003 sealed test were negative, and a test he took just three weeks after his positive test was also negative."

Speaking of the list of 104 names

In April, baseball's primary steroid accuser Jose Canseco told a reporter from the Los Angeles Times that Ramirez's name was "most likely, 90 percent" on the list, but admitted he had "no way of knowing."
Ramirez had no response to Canseco's charges, telling reporters his response was "nothing."

Canseco is kinda a weirdo, but he's been right this whole time with just about everyone. I definitely give him credit for that.
