I have spent over 10,000.00 on Vladimir Guerrero gamers,5 jerseys ,3 pairs of shoes, helmets caps etc..I am scared to death he will be next,what about those who had a fortune invested in Clemens,Sosa,Mcguire and now Manny! This sucks,fortunately the majority of my Expos gamers date back to the 70,s and 80,s! Does anyone else feel uneasy!!!!

I have just in Clemens over $50,000 invested and over $60,000 in McGwire. Luckily I got rid of most of my Sosa items.

I am at a point where I probably won't sell any of my Clemens or Big Mac items.

The ManRam is a shock and many on the Forum collect him. OUCH, I feel your pain.

So what do us forum members feel this does to the value of his game used items? I was in talks with a forum member about buying a 2004 game used bat of mannys. I dropped my asking price and am awaiting his response. Not real sure how good of an investment this would be now in light of the news.......

It's a total risk collecting anything from active players. Anything can happen from roids, injuries or tabloid stuff to kill your collection. I have tried as hard as possible to only buy stuff from retired players.

As noted, player value could go down before the steroid era: Eric Davis, Mark Fidrych, Fred Lynn, Gregg Jeffries, Keith Mitchell. Investing in player has always had risk, steroids or not.

Football a better investment? Who owns a (true) Farve GU Packer jersey, or a GU TO's Cowboy jersey? The Fair Market Value for those (and others I'm sure) have dropped significantly, and this will be especially true next year when you can get a Farve GU Vikings jersey, or a GU Buffalo TO jersey, cheap, cheap, cheap.

I can smell the bonfires in Green Bay as we speak.
