    A-Rod Bat Inscription

    Hey guys,

Through my work, I am going to get my A-Rod R205 Texas Rangers bat signed when the Yankees visit the Rangers in August.

Can you guys come up with any inscription that might make the bat unique? I know the obvious (and potentially funny) ones but was just curious if you guys had any suggestions.

I could have him sign it to me but then if I resold it for some reason, it would devalue it.

Like I said, I know there's a lot of humorous ones out there but that's not what I'm looking for. Just need a little help because I am drawing a blank.

    Thanks.

I'd leave it with just the sig & "game used" or maybe his stat line for the season it was used. You could ask for "600 HR" but he'll probably hit 700+ anyway. Maybe suggest he inscribe "All-time HR King" since you may not have this chance again and see what he says!

If it was his MVP season with the Rangers, maybe "2003 MVP" and "game used"? I think the simpler the better, but my own 2¢.

And if you were doing humorous, "Can you believe Steiner charges $20K for my jersey?!?!"
      Cheers,

I like the suggestions so far. If I knew for sure he used the bat during his MVP season, that would be a good one. I need to see if BMH can tell when those 30 bats were ordered.

        Keep 'em coming....

        Thanks!

Not crazy about it, but just throwing it out there:

          "Youngest to 600"

I like just a signature and game used myself.

I had considered "Youngest to 300 HR" and "Game Used" because he hit his 300th in the 2003 season.

            Still not sure.

              i like that idea.

is he doing a signing or you going to get it signed at the ballpark. just weary if he is signing this with many people asking at the same time. it might be a rushed sig in a crowd of fans.

No, my GM and I are going to a dinner at the home of a friend of A-Rod's. We have already cleared bring the bat to be signed.

Id would be great to get a report of your opinion of him after meeting him in that sort of setting. My guess is it will be different than those who know him only in the media or at a staged signing.

I would suggest you think again about having him personalize the autograph. As you point out, if its personalized the ability to sell it later is pretty low. However, with so many ARod autographs out there now I wouldn't count on it bringing a lot of money if you tried to sell it later. At a team signing when he was with the Rangers he personalized a game used bat of his I had him sign. I had heard that he personalized game used items so you couldn't sell it later. Which was fine with me. I now have one of his bats signed to me and plan to keep it. If it simply had his autograph I doubt I could sell it for any grreat amount of money. I would much rather have a personalized bat from a star player, which is rather rare to have, than a bat with his autograph I could sell, but that is a decision for each individaul to make depending on how much a personalization would mean to them.

These here are your best options that cliffjmp33 mentioned.

I wouldn't put things like youngest to 500hr or 600hr unless he accomplihsed those feats while with the Rangers. Which he didn't.

Things like "MVP" and if you can narrow down the year the bat was used something like "2003 Game Used" etc.....
