Re: What is your White Whale?

I know I have posted it here in the past, but about 18 years ago the jerseys worn in the movie "Best of Times" by Robin Williams and Kurt Russell were auctioned off. I still regret not buying them. They are out there somewhere!

I went to college in Eau Claire, Wi where Hank Aaron played in the minors. Im not much of a baseball fan but the area brings back the best memories of my life and I would kill for his jersey he wore back when he played for the Bears. I highly doubt its even out there.

Otherwise a Don Hutson jersey or a heisman trophy.

            White Whale?

            How 'bout Rosie O'Donnell?

Seriously, a Ryne Sandberg gamer, Cubs or minor league. With medical expenses and a non-response from my former employers about funds owed for services rendered, however, even the Peoria manager jersey on eBay is (right now) out of my reach.

Third choice would be a Kent Nilsson Edmonton Oilers jersey from the 1986-87 season.
Gabriel sold everything in the last Classics auction. It was in Dec.

I have them in my personal collection of movie worn items although they may not be the same ones as 18 years ago, I acquired them closer to ten years ago and they nest with significant pieces from Any Given Sunday, the Replacements, Varsity Blues, the Program, The Longest Yard (A. Sandler version), Brian's Song (newer version), Friday Night Lights, Father Was a Fullback, the Express, Game Plan, Gridiron Gang, Mystery Alaska, and Blind Side.

                      Rumor was it disappeared.

Mike "Nationals2K9" put me in touch with someone with the Rangers and I got the next best thing which was the same Louisville Slugger that Josh used in a game that season (2008) and it was cracked and MLB hologram'd.

                      Good luck in your search!

A White Whale for me would be a Bob Golic Gamer. Now, before you say 'who?' take a look at the pics. You'll most likely remember him from his acting career. Growing up on this show, a Golic Gamer would be a rare accomplishment.

I'm not a football expert, but wondering if you saw this Golic on ebay.

Being a die-hard Blue Jays fan I'd have to say:

                          1. the bat Alomar used to hit his homerun off of against Dennis Eckersley in the 1992 ALCS. I'd say this is the second biggest hit in Blue Jays history, next to, of course Carter's 1993 WS winner.

                          2. the jersey that Dave Steib wore on Sept. 20 1990 (no-hitter).

In addition to what I listed earlier I would add Mariano Rivera's 2009 World Series glove I missed out on a couple of weeks ago.
