Re: May 2014 "Pick-Ups" Thread
Hey Guys! So I have had a few recent pickups over the last couple of weeks from my first O's games that I attended. I attended the O's vs Royals game on 4/27 and all of the Astros series this weekend. Here are some of my pickups:
As many of you know I am a big Jose Altuve fan. I have posted several times trying to get a Jose Altuve hit ball. I was hoping that I would be able to get one from the three game series this weekend. Even though he had six hits in the series, not one made it to the MLB authenticator. If it weren't for bad luck trying to track down a hit ball of his I would have no luck at all. The year plus hunt continues. I did pick up the two Altuve related baseballs that did get authenticated. The first one is from 5/10 and is a fly out in the top of the 1st. The ball shows good use and has the 60th Anniversary logo. The second one is from today's Mother's Day game and was a ball in the dirt in the 6th. My labeler ran out of else I would have a label on the case. I have wanted a Mother's Day ball for some time and to have one related to one of my favorite players is just a huge plus!
I also am a huge Jonathan Schoop fan. I was able to obtain a couple of authenticated balls from him. The first one is his 2nd ever career hit by pitch on April 26, 2014. The second one is an RBI single from the game on 5/9. This was his 28th career hit and 14th career RBI. The good folks at Art of the Game believe this is the first authenticated hit ball of his this year, at least from his home appearances.
Probably the most interesting one of the bunch is a Nick Markakis single from the 5/9/14 game. This was hit in the bottom of the 1st to extend his current hit streak to 16 games. This was his 1,411th career hit.
The last one is a Norichika Aoki single from the game on April 27th, 2014. This was his career hit 346.
The last item is the Mother's Day base from today's Astros vs. Orioles game. It's a really cool item and I really like the pink jewels that they use in the bases. In addition, the other two jewels have the Orioles 60th anniversary logo. It goes well with my 2012 base that has the Camden Yards 20th anniversary logo jewels.
Thats all for now, keep posting your items everyone!Comment

Yea O's stuff is usually more pricey than average teams. If it weren't for me wanting one Oriole related pretty bad, and one that had some sort of Jose Altuve connection, I wouldn't have paid it.Comment

Derek Jeter Game Used bat from 2010. Won from Goldin Auctions, graded GU10 by PSA and Photomatched from Sept 28 2010 to Oct 3 2010. Collecting 8 hits #2,918-#2,926. It may have been used on the Sept 27th for an additional hit, but I haven't found any images. On the 28th the Yankees clinched a playoff spot, which would be the last playoff for the Core 4.
