Re: Players using others players bats or other equipment

I picked up this Luke Carlin B45 at Chase Field last night, and I was curious about the number change (to '6') on the knob, since that's Stephen Drew's number.

Sure enough, when I checked out the MLB hologram:

Hologram number LH383228 was located in the MLB Authentication Database under GAME-USED BROKEN BAT.
    Session Product Description:
    Session Name: FLA AT ARI
    Session Date: July 11, 2009
    Autographer:
    Authenticator: AUTHENTICATORS, INC.
Additional Information: 1ST INNING, SEAN WEST TO STEPHEN DREW, B45, LUKE CARLIN PRO SELECT B271, CRACKED ASH BAT

That is such a ripoff and false advertising, it really is a Tony Clark GU bat made for A-Rod.

Curious. Anyone notice who's bat Cliff Lee used last night in his Phillies Debut?

You beat me to this one Tom - I will try to get a scan up later. The Holliday Pujols looks to have some tar characteristics that would distinguish it as his own...at this point, the guys in the clubhouse are looking very carefully at the situation

Here is Billy Butler... I noticed this while watching a couple of games, but I never could figure out whose bat it was. My DVR wasn't working and I couldnt rewind and pause or I was at the game and too far away. That said, this is the only bat I've seen Billy use with a non-natural finish since 2005 or so. It could be his, but I've not seen a personal model bat for Billy that was not all natural finish, since the minors. And I've not seen him use a Marucci bat aside from this one. He's pretty exclusive toward Phoenix Bats.

Anybody know anything more? These appear to be April 25, April 10, April 27 and May 26.

I also noticed that Roy Halladay used Longorias helmet (with the front decal
    removed) in today's All-Star game.
