Again, Zonker was given an opportunity to purchase the bat TODAY. I have no money. The bat was available at price today. Why should I wait a week for money? Point is, and not sure why I am repeating, but I admitted wrongs, offered opportunity, and it is a lose lose deal because nobody is happy. End of story. Ok?

just to set the record straight i only asked the adminastrator's (you can ask) if they would allow me to send email's to them if they had any question's about my concern's. and yes you did give me the opportunity to pay today, but i don't have paypal and you knew that yesterday.and i replied to your email privately this morning stating if you would atleast honor the second price as you were offering. i would send the money exactly how we agreed on overnight today not paypal and you actually told me priority would be fine. overnight was my idea. i'm sorry the truth sound's like i'm badmouthing you but i'm not, it is exactly what it is. i tried to work it out with you and i was hoping when i got in for lunch thing's would be better. i could just send the money, cause i told you this morning if you gave me the go ahead at lunch i would take care of it today so you could have your money for tommarrow's purchases. so i guess it's a NO since i haven't heard from you. privately or otherwise. sorry i just thought it was unfair ,uncalled for, and i was just hopeing to get something ammended on the for sale section to cover this kind of problem. that's all!

I have spent the day apologizing. I am done with it. I have the 88 and 89 bats, but this has gotten so old on the drive home I am going to decide possibly to just keep the bat. Maybe it is handwriting on the wall...

Zonker, if the seller wants his money today, PayPal isn't the only way to do it. Why not send him a wire transfer? Just head down to your bank or Western Union and they can take care of it.
Look the problem I see is the price jumping from $500 to a higher amount 1150, then back to 625...no one has address this issue!!! How can you offer 1 price here then have it jump around! Thats all I want clarification on.
Some times when things are for sale we tend to get offers more than the asking price. In detail the seller advise the second offer will be his if the fist buyer falls through. There's nothing wrong with that. Bob is a great guy and if he says the bat will be sold @ 625.00 pending paypal payment. It will happen. Now its his choice to wait and get paid or he wants it now. If the buyer can't pay him now how can you fault him when he just goes to the next person. Again nothing is set in stone yet cause Bob still is going honor the 625.00. I'm sorry if this message is a little sloppy, trying to type from my Iphone

i dont think the question is why or how? it just did! and that's the problem there's nothing in place to keep this from happening again. something need's to be done. especialy betweem forum member's deal's should be honored there are alot of friend's here on this site and thing's like this happen all to often. bob i never asked for an apology i just wanted the bat and thought we had a deal a couple of times.you stated we did. i hope you do decide to keep it. i wish i could have decided just to keep the bat i lost from this deal, non-deal?
I just think the honorable thing to do when selling a piece is, when you list a price, you keep it there and sell it to the first person who inquires about it. I have bought from several members here and lucky for me, I was the first to inquire about it. They did the honorable thing and sold it to the first person who inquired about it. They didn't run their own personal auction to get me to up my price. I respect that! And I thank them, they know who they are. If you want to haggle over a price with multiple buyers, then state that from the beginning which was not done here. We all have an idea of what is fair or how one should sell something. I just think its best to do it first come first served. It eliminates all this hastle. If you get someone trying to up the price too bad! Thats life and you win some and you lose some. Greed rears its ugly head in some cases. Know I know why its one of the 7 deadly sins.
Due to recent acquisitions, I am making available my Mark McGwire 1988 World Series bat. For photos, send email to skyking442@hotmail.com and I will send pics to you. $500 plus shipping.

I don't want to get into the middle of this but above is the original thread by the seller. Where does it say "Immediate Payment Required"?
carlie the 1st buyer hasn't fallen thru. the price just kept going up after people started to make offer's after the deal was made. bob is a good guy! and he asked me what should he say to these offer's last night i informed him to tell them it was sold! for example seller offer's said jersey to you for 2500.00 you sale an item to secure the sale because you and seller agreed on a price and the deal was made. but say a guy named bonker call's and say's he'll give him 3000.00 so seller call's you and want's more money. but you can't meet bonker's price so you lose out on your jersey, you lose out on your item to get your jersey and nor you or bonker's end's up with the jersey. what would you think, would you like it ? or think you had nothing wrong done to you and you see no fault on the seller's behalf ? just curious.

Sounds like the seller of this bat got what I call a Godfather offer "an offer they couldn't refuse".
Not saying it's right or wrong either way but if someone is willing to pay double the original asking price after you had already said you'd sell it then you'd at least have to consider it. Especially if no money has exchanged hands. You'd be crazy not too. I think first buyer should get at least get a chance to match the offer.
Either way it's a very touchy subject. Hope the parties involved can work it out.

If I got a call from a seller asking me if I can match the offer after we had a set price deal my comment would be this"Thanks but no thanks" and I would even bother to deal with that person anymore.I dont like burning bridges at all.I cant say that this is the case here since I have no idea as to what happen just from what I've read on the boards..
Exactly. I think that if we all were honest with ourselves, we would probably do the same. Come on, or at least think about it. We are talking double the money. But, maybe the guy was just trying to stir something up. which as it turns out, is what actually happened. I know Bob. I know that is not his style to not follow through. But, I think that what buyer #1 Should've done was send the $$$ overnight like he said. Then, Bob would've had no choice. This happens more than we would care to admit. I just don't think it is fair to try and ruin a guys reputation over something like this . Especially, in a public forum. Now, Bob has a taint by his reputation. Buyer #1 doesn't have the bat. No one made out here. This should've been worked out in private. Now that I am fired up about this type of thing. Here's a story.......There was a guy that I used to be best friends with. He had a glove that I had been wanting for a while. Turns out he came into a second one. Knowing that I had been wanting one for ever. He paid let's say $2400. Keep in mind we were freinds. Or so it would appear. Instead of offering it to me at a reasonable price. He decided that he would try to rape me on it. Knowing that I would not be able to afford it at the crazy price. Over a $1,000 more that he paid. Well naturally, I said No. That was way beyond my means. He decides to sell it to a guy that I knew for the $3,400 . Needless to say. He tried to justify it by saying.."What would you expect me to do? " "We're talking about a grand ! " . I said , "I now see what our freindship is worth" . Now, I have since gotten a different glove. But I have lost what I that was a good freind. Moral of the story is that it is all about money..............
